A Note to Parents and Educators
Hi. Thanks for stopping by Zantor's Home Page. I know reading is important to you or you wouldn't be here, and I know you want to give your children and students the best books you can find. I wrote the first book in the Dragonling series for my own son when he was in third grade because I could find very little in the way of books that could hold his interest at that time. He was very into Saturday morning cartoons in those years. His heroes were He-Man and GI Joe and all of his imaginative play involved shooting and killing. I set myself the task of creating a book in which the hero was non-violent - a book that was still so exciting and intriguing that my son would be hooked enough to want to read more, even without violence. It worked. He loved the first book. So did many other young readers. Now more than ever we need books like this, books that show young heroes and heroines using their wits to solve their problems, rather than their fists. And yet Simon & Schuster had decided to let these books go out of print. A DRAGON IN THE FAMILY and DRAGON QUEST went out of print and others were getting hard to find. Thanks to the letters of support from people like you, though, Simon and Schuster decided to reissue all six books in a two-volume collectors' series!!! Both Volume I, containing THE DRAGONLING, A DRAGON IN THE FAMILY and DRAGON QUEST; and Volume II, containing DRAGONS OF KRAD, DRAGON TROUBLE, and DRAGONS AND KINGS are now available. I am grateful to all of you for your belief in these books and grateful also to Simon & Schuster for hearing your voices. If you'd like to thank them yourself, feel free to click on the link below and let them know how pleased you are. Thank you again. Long live Zantor!!!
